THE VINEYARD
Our organic Syrah is grown on a mountain ridge in the south part of the AOC wine region of Naoussa. It encompasses 1.4ha of property located on a southeast facing slope overlooking the plains of Veria, with historical sites including the birth place of Alexander the Great. The location favours biodynamic farming with no compromise to quality, through cold winters and cool summer nights, very dry air and due to steady winds and altitude, nearly insect free environment. Mount Olympus – the home of the Gods – provides the backdrop scene for the vineyard.
THE VINTAGE
At over 500m above sea level, the southeast slope together with the permeable soil offers perfect conditions for our organically grown Syrah. The grapes were patiently fermented and finished for 18 months in new, medium toasted oak casks. The wine was bottled unfiltered to preserve its rich and complex aroma and incredible opaque colour.
THE WINEMAKING
This dry Greek wine has a dark purple to blackish-red colour, leaving impressive red rivulets on the glass wall. Even though this variety needs time to show its full potential, it has already developed fruity aromas, such as blackberry and cherry complimented by a subtle hint of coconut, dark chocolate and coffee beans.
TONGUE, NOSE, EYES
It is full-bodied, fruity, with long finish, with taste of blackberry, cherry, a hint of coconut, dark chocolate and coffee beans. The palate is intense but balanced and round, fruity, with a long finish.
