Our Friday music nights continue with Songs Transformations — a mesmerizing duet featuring acclaimed guitarist Kostas Magginas and exceptional vocalist Demetra Zafeiriou.

Together, they present a rich and imaginative program inspired by the harmonic and improvisational traditions of jazz, while blending rhythmic and melodic influences from the worlds of rock, folk, and blues.
Starting from jazz standards and traditional American songs, they journey through the timeless music of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, and beyond — transforming each piece with their own distinct sound and artistic identity.

About the Artists
Kostas Magginas is one of Greece’s most distinguished jazz guitarists and educators. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, he has performed and recorded internationally with renowned artists including Lee Konitz, Dick Griffin, Mark Turner, Trilok Gurtu, Rick Margitza, and many others. His work spans performances at major jazz festivals, recordings for Greek radio, and compositions for theatre and film. He is currently Head of the Jazz Department at the Contemporary Conservatory of Thessaloniki.

Demetra Zafeiriou, a versatile and gifted vocalist with a five-octave range, studied vocal performance at the Contemporary Conservatory of Thessaloniki and the London College of Music. She has appeared as a soloist with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra and the Greek National Radio Symphony Orchestra, performing works by Beethoven, Handel, Mahler, and Theodorakis, among others. Her expressive power and wide-ranging artistry bring an emotional depth to every performance.
